Media Press Release, August 7, 2000 From August 13 - 17, 2000, I will be covering the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles for OUTCRY Magazine and other media. www.outcrybookreview.com This convention is very important to me for a couple of reasons. In 1996 when I covered the same convention, I left the United Center in Chicago with mixed emotions because Nigeria (home country) was still under the tyranny of military rule. |
On the last day of the convention, a female reporter shared my despair about Nigeria's situation. She told me that one day Nigeria too, will be granted the gift of democracy. Since then, Nigeria has adopted democracy and done away with military rule. Consequently, my journey back to the Democratic Convention this year as a reporter is partly in fulfillment of a prophecy made by a fellow reporter.

A few days after the Democratic Convention, President Clinton will be going to Nigeria on a state's. He will be reciprocating the visit of President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria from November, 1999. I was reporting from the White House during the press conference of these two leaders when President Obasanjo invited President Clinton to visit Nigeria.
