"One Day My Soul just Opened Up" by Iyanla
Vanzant Book Review by Kathy Dierker What a profound experience reading this book was for me! "One Day My Soul Just Opened Up" is a great book that really changed the way I think about many things. |
It was written wit a theme for each of forty days. The fact that I willingly set my alarm twenty minutes earlier every morning to read the morning lesson is amazing! A non-morning person like me doesn't do that! This is proof of the power of this book!
|
Besides reading, I faithfully followed her instructions for
highlighting important lines, and writing answers to her questions in the book. I
also read the ten minute reflection at the end of each day and wrote answers to evening
reflections. This was all worth the effort because the lessons I have learned are
invaluable. The book taught me better ways to view myself, God and others. It taught me how to more deeply be aware of God's presence in my life and the journey He is taking me on in this life. |
It helped me realize that God made me and every one else in this world on purpose! We can therefore only be proud of the unique, wonderful people we are. If we realize this, it won't really matter what others think of us because we know that truthful of who we are!
Iyanla teaches us that God has a plan for all of us. We are in touch with this plan because a of part of the divine is within us. We just need to quiet ourselves to listen to His voice within us.
Iyanla shares different themes on dealing with situations we go through in life. According to her, God leads us through different situations on purpose, so we can learn and grow. We will hopefully learn to love more fully and unconditionally - God, ourselves, and others.
If you want to change your life in a very positive way, I encourage you to read this book!
